Protocol and Host Country Department (DPG)
The Protocol and Host Country Affairs Department (DPG) ensures that Dutch host country policy is properly implemented and oversees compliance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, and the headquarters agreements between the Netherlands and international organisations. DPG is also the point of contact for questions relating to the privileges and immunities of diplomatic representations (embassies and consulates) and international organisations, and the officials who work there plus their family members (privileged persons), as well as for security-related matters.
The department also makes arrangements for all incoming official visits from heads of state or government, ministers of foreign affairs and heads of international organisations, such as the UN, EU and NATO. It also helps arrange state visits. DPG is the budget holder for outward state visits and for outward official visits by the prime minister. Moreover, it is the point of contact for ceremonial matters, royal honours and decorations and matters relating to the Royal House.
DPG consists of three divisions:
-
the Conference Office (DPG/CB)
-
the Visits and Events Division (DPG/BE)
-
the Host Country Division (DPG/NG)
