Contract: Local (Brazilian) contract at the Consulate, 40 hours a week
Salary: Local pay scale 6 (min. R$ 10.160 – max. 15.240) market competitive and depending on relevant work experience

The ideal candidate for the position of Consular and General Affairs Officer at the Consulate of the Netherlands in São Paulo is an individual who embodies the following qualities:

Main duties
The main focus of this position is on consular services.
Consular services
- Provide consular services to citizens of the Netherlands residing in or visiting São Paulo, including assisting with passport and visa applications, naturalization, civic integration exams, consular declarations, and emergency services (e.g. detainee visits, hospitalization, robbery, deaths, etc.).
- Manage and process requests for visas and immigration-related services in compliance with national and international regulations.
- Serve as a liaison between the Consulate and local authorities, ensuring smooth collaboration on consular matters.
- Respond to inquiries from citizens, providing information and assistance on various consular services.
- Handle the day-to-day administration of consular services, including maintaining records, filing systems, and managing correspondence.
General Affairs services
- Oversee day-to-day administrative operations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in office management.
- Manage correspondence, filing, and documentation, both digital and physical, ensuring confidentiality and organization.
- Oversee smaller maintenance project within the office and the official residence of the Consul General.
- Maintaining contacts with relevant departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands, proactively seeking for alignment, when required.
What we are looking for:
- Good communication and writing skills in Portuguese and English. Dutch is an added advantage.
- Ability to collaborate with a diverse team in a dynamic work environment.
- Customer oriented and empathetically dealing with problems.
- Problem solving skills and proficiency in common Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.).
- Preferably 3+ years of relevant work experience and education in relevant area.
- Willingness to occasionally travel within Brazil to support Dutch citizens.

Working environment
The Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in São Paulo is part of the broader Brazil network: the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Brasilia, the Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro and the Netherlands Business Support Offices in Belo Horizonte and Porto Alegre. The Consulate General has 18 staff members and consists of an agricultural employee, a consular department, an innovation team, general affairs and a cultural/economic and trade section.
