Consulate General Vancouver - Canada
About Consulate General in Vancouver
The city of Vancouver
Population
With an immigrant population of more than 40%, Vancouver is like Toronto one of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities. The five main ethnic groups are Chinese, English, Canadian, Irish and Scottish. Vancouver is a melting-pot of religions and cultural groups from all over the world and, of course, Canada’s indigenous communities. British Columbia has an estimated population of over 5.5 million.
Our team
Team Vancouver consists of ten staff members headed by Consul General Sebastiaan Messerschmidt. Adriaan van Velthoven is the Deputy Consul General. The Economic Affairs team comprises Maarten den Ouden, Ima Nahumury, Robin Heijmans and Almar Davids. Rianne Kamphuijs is the General Affairs officer. Naomi Verstoep is the personal assistant to the Consul General. Given the many Dutch nationals in West Canada, consular services are an important part of our work: Mitra Davari and Toon van den Heuvel (also General Affairs) make up the consular team.
We represent the interests of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and its citizens in the western part of Canada (Provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan and the Yukon and Northwest Territories). The Consulate General’s work focuses on economic cooperation and supporting the Dutch business community in this area.
