The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) is part of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate. The NFIA is responsible for the international promotion of the Netherlands as a business location for foreign companies and for actively attracting and supporting those foreign companies that contribute to the sustainable earning capacity of the Netherlands. NFIA does this in collaboration with partners in the Invest in Holland network. With our strategic marketing and acquisition activities, we focus on strengthening existing Dutch ecosystems.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As the project manager, you are responsible for identifying and guiding companies that can further strengthen the Dutch economy through establishment or follow-up investments. Based on strategic focus areas co-developed by our sector teams in the Netherlands, you pursue niche opportunities for potential investment projects in the Netherlands.
You operate within the NFIA Americas team and work together with the economic cluster at the Consulate General. You approach companies that are active in the fields of Agrifood, Energy, IT, HTSM and Life Sciences & Health. You guide, inform and advise these companies in their search for the most suitable location in the Netherlands. You work directly with the Head of Office & NFIA team in Toronto, and the NFIA Americas colleagues based in the USA. Work is done in joint effort with NFIA headquarters in The Hague, the Invest in Holland network (regional and local governments in the Netherlands that focus on investment promotion), and the Netherlands Innovation Network as well as local intermediaries/service providers.
In addition to project management, you are responsible for account management of companies already established in the Netherlands. NFIA also has a signaling role towards our national and regional government, offering insight how companies experience our business climate.
Finally, you join efforts in organizing and participating in a variety of activities such as seminars, trade fairs and investment-oriented inbound trade missions with ministers, local and regional governments.

Where will you work?

You will work at our NFIA Canada office which is a part of the Consulate General in Toronto. You are part of a diverse team of 3 NFIA colleagues. Together you inspire each other to bring the most innovative companies to the Netherlands. The Consulate General itself works to strengthen the economic ties between the Netherlands and Canada and supports with consular services, such as passport applications and consular declarations.

QUALIFICATIONS 
 

•    Completed academic education, preferably with an economics component, economics  or business administration
•    1-3 years of work experience, preferably international commercial experience in the field of promotion, sales or acquisition and experience in dealing with companies from  Canada
•    Demonstrable familiarity with international business 
•    General knowledge of the Dutch economy and the Dutch investment climate
•    Excellent research skills, naturally curious and up-to-date on economic developments  worldwide, specifically in Canada and the Netherlands
•    Excellent command of the English language, both verbally and in writing,  and preferably knowledge of the Dutch language 
•    Flexible attitude and organizing ability, can work under pressure and deal with targets
•    You have a proven competence in making and holding presentations
•    You are organizationally sensitive, and you understand political and organizational relationships

What we offer

The Consulate General of the Netherlands in Toronto has a full-time vacancy (37.5 hours per week) for a Project Manager NFIA. 
Closing date for applications : July 31, 2024.
Starting date: As soon as possible, preferably no later than 1 October 2024.
Indicative monthly salary range: CAD 4822 – 5786 gross (pay scale 7, based on 37.5hrs), depending on education and experience. 
We offer a competitive salary in a dynamic, challenging and international environment with good secondary conditions, which include 18 paid vacation days with the possibility to expand with an extra 14 days if you decide to go for a 40-hour workweek instead of 37,5 hours.
