Help! Sustainable King's Day 2024 in Toronto - Canada
Help! Sustainable King's Day 2024 in Toronto
We are excited to invite Event Agencies or other companies or organizations to submit a proposal that will raise the sustainability focus of the celebration of the Dutch national holiday (King’s Day) in Toronto. King’s Day is a vibrant and cherished tradition in the Netherlands. For this occasion – and those in the future, we aim to elevate the experience by hosting a sustainable event based on innovative and out-of-the-box ideas. Our goal is to get a strategy out of this to then use at other events organized by the Consulate General in Toronto as well.
Event Details
Event Name: King’s Day Celebration
Date: April
2024
Start Time: 4 pm
Location: Toronto
Expected
Guests: approximately 150-200 Theme and Objectives
Our primary objective is to create an unforgettable King’s

sustainability. We are looking for creative ideas and concepts
that incorporate eco-friendly practices, reduce waste, and
promote environmental consciousness throughout the event.
Below is a minimal requirement list with basic elements
included in our sustainability efforts which are commonly used.
The event design should go beyond these and include highly
innovative ideas and not only the commonly used actions to
promote sustainability.
Sustainability Focus
Incorporate sustainable practices such as eco-friendly
decorations, reusable tableware, and waste reduction
strategies.
Innovative Entertainment
Explore unique and eco-friendly entertainment options, such
as live performances / presentations using recycled materials or
any other entertainment, as long as it fits into the ‘more walk,
less talk’ perspective.
Culinary Experience
Collaborate with local vendors to provide a diverse and
sustainable menu with organic, locally sourced ingredients with
a low carbon footprint – such as plant based. Implement waste reduction measures,
such as composting and recycling stations or select a location
that focuses on sustainability and includes these (and other)
measures.
Selection of location
Suggest locations that have high sustainable operations,
and show and tell this. Suggest locations that will have the
lowest carbon footprint in terms of travel to and from this
location.
Green Transportation
Promote eco-friendly transportation options to and from the
event, such as shuttle services, bike racks, or carpool
incentives.
Sustainable Swag
Create sustainable event merchandise that aligns with our
eco-friendly theme.
Submission Guidelines
Please submit a concept event proposal that includes your
innovative ideas and a quotation. Not included in the quotation
are the costs itself. The use of visual in the proposal is
recommended and innovative ways of presenting the concept will
be preferred.
Emphasize how your agency will infuse
sustainability into every aspect of the event, how this will be
communicated in the situation, how your proposals can be used in
future events and why you should be our preferred partner.
Submission Deadline
We are excited to partner with an agency that shares our
vision for a greener, more sustainable King’s Day celebration.
We look forward to reviewing your creative concepts and working
together to make this event a success.
