Human Rights Festival 2024 in Bitung City

The 11th Human Rights Festival, led by INFID, Komnas HAM, and the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Indonesia (KSP), took place in Bitung City, North Sulawesi, marking over a decade of fostering human rights dialogue and advocacy.

This festival continues to serve as a vibrant platform for raising awareness, promoting human rights-based governance, and encouraging policies that respect human dignity.

The Dutch Embassy was honored to participate, highlighting its close collaboration with the festival’s organizers. Bitung was selected as the host city after a comprehensive assessment by INFID, Komnas HAM, and KSP, recognizing the city’s commitment to human rights through its local regulations and active community engagement.

The event featured keynote addresses from leading figures, including Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Protection I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati, and Human Rights Commission Chair Atnike Nova Sigiro. The Dutch Embassy was represented by Second Secretary Zilla Boyer and Senior Policy Advisor Edwin Arifin.

Atnike Nova Sigiro emphasized the festival’s role in deepening the understanding of justice, equality, and respect for human dignity, inspiring a more inclusive society. As the event concluded, it reinforced the crucial need for continued collaboration and dialogue to advance human rights both locally and globally.
