Dutch Ambassador met Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology

On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Ambassador Marc Gerritsen held a productive meeting with Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro.

Together, they explored exciting opportunities to deepen the longstanding partnership between the Netherlands and Indonesia in the fields of higher education and science.  

The discussion highlighted the potential for expanding bilateral collaboration, fostering joint research initiatives, and the importance of national archives. Key sectors such as agriculture, water management, and energy – areas where Dutch expertise is internationally recognized – took center stage. Both sides also expressed enthusiasm for creating pathways to welcome more Dutch students to Indonesia, enriching academic and cultural exchanges.  
 
The meeting was further enriched by the presence of education attachés from both countries, Yvonne Klerks and Agus Setiabudi, whose expertise will be crucial in turning plans into reality. Their collaborative efforts underscore the shared commitment of both nations to build a partnership that benefits everyone involved.  

 



Ambassador Marc presented Minister Satryo with a congratulatory letter from Dutch's Minister of Education, Culture, and Science, Eppo Bruins, alongside a piece of Delft Blue – a timeless symbol of the Netherlands and a nod to Minister Satryo’s birthplace of Delft.  

We extend our gratitude to the Indonesia's Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology for the gracious reception. This meeting marks another step forward in strengthening the bonds between the Netherlands and Indonesia, paving the way for impactful collaborations in higher education and science.
