Dutch Ambassador Presented His Credentials to Timor-Leste President

On 18 February 2025, Ambassador Marc Gerritsen traveled to Dili with two colleagues from the Embassy to present his credentials to the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, José Ramos-Horta.

The visit was marked by a series of ceremonies, meetings, and receptions, which not only strengthened diplomatic ties but also provided valuable opportunities for new contacts and ideas on how to further enhance the relationship between the Netherlands and Timor-Leste. The visit highlighted the mutual respect and shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with the people of Timor-Leste, known for their warmth and hospitality.

In addition to the Ambassador’s visit, the Netherlands also appointed its first Honorary Consul to Timor-Leste, Antonio Sampaio. The new Honorary Consul will play a key role in supporting and expanding the ties between the two nations, further fostering their growing partnership.
