As one of the UN’s largest troop-contributing nations, Indonesia, alongside the Netherlands – a steadfast supporter of UN peacekeeping – is making bold strides to tackle the world’s most pressing peace and security challenges.

The UN Peacekeeping Ministerial Preparatory Meeting, an event focused on the future of global peace missions, was held in Sentul, Bogor, on Wednesday, 4 February 2025. The meeting brought together 153 participants from 58 UN member states, with the Netherlands and Indonesia co-hosting the event.

This landmark conference united Member States and key stakeholders to discuss how UN peacekeeping can evolve to better support countries and communities in need, ensuring sustainable peace even in the world’s most complex and challenging environments.

“Ensuring that UN peacekeeping remains adaptable and effective for the future is a top priority for the Netherlands. This conference, together with our ongoing study on peacekeeping’s future, is a vital step in shaping a shared vision for global security,” said Aldrik Gierveld, the Netherlands Ambassador-at-Large, who delivered an inspiring speech at the event.
