The A.E. Priyono Democracy Forum, a series of discussion events hosted by Public Virtue in collaboration with our embassy, wrapped-up with its 8th and final edition on Wednesday 17 April 2024.

The event was held at the Erasmus Huis auditorium in Jakarta and featured Yanuar Nugroho from BAPPENAS, Prof. Firman Noor from BRIN, Evi Mariani from Project Multatuli, and Fatimah Zahrah from the ASEAN Youth Forum, moderated by Margianta Surahman from Emancipate Indonesia.

During the opening of the event Ambassador Lambert Grijns emphasized the need for a reevaluation of democracy, sharing concerns about worldwide trends against democracy. He expressed his hope that through open and inclusive dialogues based on factual information we can contribute to maintaining the spirit of democracy.

The audience, both in-person and online, actively participated in the Q&A session. Following the event, attendees were invited to visit community organizations’ booths promoting topics such as human rights, the environment, freedom of expression, and sign language communities.
