A historic moment for the film industries of the Netherlands and Indonesia unfolded during the 19th edition of the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) as the two nations officially signed a Film Co-Production Treaty.

The signing ceremony, held in Yogyakarta on Wednesday, 4 December 2024 saw Dutch Deputy Minister for Culture and Media, Barbera Wolfensberger, and Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Giring Ganesha, formalize the agreement. Dutch Ambassador Marc Gerritsen was also in attendance, alongside notable filmmakers from both countries, including Jim Taihuttu, Martin Koolhoven, and Garin Nugroho.

The treaty represents a long-awaited achievement for the film sectors of both nations.
