About Tom van der Zaal Quartet
Dutch award-winning jazz saxophonist Tom van der Zaal grew up in a musical family and earned his master’s degree with honors at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague. His background, extended knowledge and practice of more traditional forms of jazz have made him the player he is today.
Due to the pandemic and canceled tours, he started to write new music for string orchestra for his latest album “Sketchbook of Dreams”. The music is considered lyrical, rooted, swinging and always in search of artistic connection with influences from genres such as classical, jazz and Brazilian music.
For his Indonesian Tour 2023, his band features prominent musicians, including Karel Boehlee on piano, Matheus Nicolaiewsky on double bass and Sander Smeets on drums.
