Update Traveling from Indonesia to the Netherlands

News item | 01-09-2022 | 06:41

From October 10th The Netherlands (together with Belgium and Luxembourg) will only recognize Indonesian passports for visa applications if they contain the holder’s signature or signature via an endorsement stamp from Indonesian Immigration officials or consular officials at the Indonesian missions abroad.

Signature Required in Indonesian Passports

  • In case the applicant has an Indonesian passport NOT containing the holder’s signature and whose applicant wishes to apply for a visa on or after the 10th of October 2022, the visa application can only be approved if an endorsement stamp containing the holder’s signature is attained from authorities mentioned above.
  • Already submitted visa applications with an Indonesian passport NOT containing the holder’s signature will be processed during the transitional period ending on the 10th of October 2022. Visa applications with an Indonesian passport NOT containing the holder’s signature, like stated above, and whose application was submitted ON or AFTER the 10th of October 2022 will be rejected.
  • If the Netherlands issues a visa during the transitional period in an Indonesian passport NOT containing the holder’s signature, the visa will only be valid in Schengen countries that recognize the passport without any limitations/conditions.
  • Indonesian citizens with an Indonesian passport NOT containing a holder’s signature and a long stay in the Netherlands (MVV) need to request the Indonesian embassy in The Hague to add an endorsement stamp containing the holder’s signature in their passports.
  • If you are already in the Netherlands, you need to request the Indonesian embassy in The Hague to add your signature to your passport.
