Climate and sustainability - Italy
Both Italy and the Netherlands experience the tangible impact of climate change more often, such as extreme droughts and rainfall. Making our countries more sustainable and advancing the transition to green energy alternatives are essential parts of our response to this global challenge.
Circular economy, climate change mitigation and climate resilience are very relevant themes on the economic and political agenda of the Netherlands and of Italy as EU member states. In the coming years we will further intensify the collaboration and sharing of best practices on themes like climate adaptation, resilient cities, circular economy, water management, sustainable agriculture and sustainable design.
In addition, the Netherlands embassy in Rome and the consulate general in Milan make every effort to contribute to the goal of the Netherlands' Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be climate neutral by 2030. To achieve this 'Mission Sustainable', we aim for sustainable procurement, energy savings, and sustainable transport in our daily work.
With these initiatives in Italy we aim to contribute to the climate goals set by the EU.
