Public Diplomacy, Political and Cultural Affairs Section (PPC)
Public Diplomacy
One part of PPC activities is communications: we maintain contacts with both the Japanese and Dutch press and are in charge of the social media channels. PPC also works together with local organizations on activities in areas such as gender, equal rights for LGBTIQ+ and other social challenges that are also topical in the Netherlands. This is based on the Public Diplomacy agenda of the Dutch government.
Political Affairs
The Netherlands is deeply invested in economic and regional affairs in the Indo Pacific region and works in close cooperation with the Japanese government and other relevant stakeholders in Japan strengthening both bilateral and multilateral cooperation. The political affairs team provides analyses and reports to the Dutch government on the key political developments in and concerning Japan. We also support human rights initiatives and promotes Dutch policy priorities to Japanese stakeholders.
Cultural Affairs
The team promotes Dutch culture and art in Japan in collaboration with the cultural and creative industries sectors in the Netherlands and Japan. To support the international activities of these Dutch sectors, PPC has a yearly budget from the International Cultural Policy to provide contributions for activities by artists and designers from the Netherlands.
