18 Dutch Companies participate in the Life Sciences & Health Trade Mission to Kenya
From October 14th to 17th, the Life Sciences and Health Trade Mission unfolded across Nairobi and Kisumu, marking a significant step in fostering collaboration between Kenya and the Netherlands in the healthcare sector. This mission, part of the Life Sciences and Health Combi-track activities, was orchestrated by a coalition including the Embassy of the Netherlands in Kenya, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Task Force Health Care Netherlands (TFHC).
A robust delegation of 18 Dutch companies and organizations, each offering innovative healthcare solutions, engaged Kenyan government officials, private sector representatives, and healthcare stakeholders. Their shared goal: to explore collaboration opportunities that align with Kenya’s ambitious Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
In Nairobi, participants attended a high-level seminar featuring keynote addresses from the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Mr. Harry Kimtai, Dutch Vice Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Ms. Yvette van Eechoud, and the Chairman and CEO of the Kenya Healthcare Federation. Breakout sessions tackled pressing healthcare topics, while matchmaking sessions facilitated valuable connections.
Site visits to Population Services International, AAR Hospital, and Skills Meducation underscored the potential for impactful partnerships highlighted by Skills Meducation’s decision to establish a branch in Kenya following the 2022 trade mission.
The delegation then journeyed to Kisumu for the Lake Region Digital Health Conference, further matchmaking opportunities, and a visit to St. Jairus Hospital.
The mission was a resounding success, offering Dutch participants deep insights into Kenya’s healthcare landscape and how their expertise can drive improvements in healthcare delivery. The Embassy looks forward to supporting future initiatives that build on the momentum of this dynamic engagement.
