Empowering Resilience: SLAMDAM Technology Unveiled in Rumuruti, Nanyuki, with Support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands
On 30th November, 2023 marked the successful deployment of the SLAMDAM Technology in Rumuruti, Nanyuki in the presence of Governor Joshua Irungu and other county officials. This innovative solution is supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kenya and serves as both a flood barrier and water storage system marking a significant stride towards enhancing community resilience.
Before the deployment, a technical training and validation workshop on flood management and water storage initiatives using SLAMDAM technology was conducted earlier in the week engaging members of the Rumuruti Community. SNV, alongside valuable partners such as the County Government of Laikipia, Nelen & Schuurmans, Zephyr Group, Kenya Red Cross, Water Resources Authority, and WRUAs actively participated in a community engagement session.
This coordinated effort signifies a technical advancement but also a fruitful partnership geared towards enhancing the overall well-being and resilience of the Rumuruti community.
