Netherlands water sector deep dive

Between 19 February- 5 March 2024, a delegation including the long-term independent Advisor on Water for Kenya and Rwanda, on assignment by RVO, one of our policy officers responsible for water sector trade and investments, and RVO representatives held several visits and meetings with Netherlands Water sector stakeholders

The delegation visited a number of companies and institutions including ITC University of Twente, Nijhuis, Semilla Sanitation, Genap, MottMacDonald- Euro consult, Solar Dew BV, Future Water, Royal Haskoning DHV, CDR International, VEI, Royal Flora Holland-flower auction, World Water Net, Cardano-Frontier finance solutions, Bosman van Zaal, Krohne, Witteveen en Bos, Hatenboer, TU Delft, Deltares, Maeslantkering, WTEX 10, Dutch Water Authorities, Netherlands Water  Partnership and Van Essen Instruments. 

The aim of the visit was to understand the Dutch water sector landscape, strengthen networks with Dutch private sector companies, programs, and consulting firms in the water sector, and discuss lessons learned from existing programs. The visit also explored avenues for the Embassy to support these companies in promoting trade and investments between Kenya and the Netherlands within the water sector.

Discussions were also held with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) on the opportunities to deploy current programs and subsidies touching on the water sector in Kenya Partners for Water, DHI subsidy, Private Sector Development subsidy and  with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Water Worx project and the Urban Water Catalyst initiative.
