The embassy of the kingdom of the Netherlands to the republic of Moldova in Chisinau, although small and recently established in 27th of April 2023, is dedicated to strengthening diplomatic ties and improving conditions in Moldova. The staff works tirelessly to foster better relations through various initiatives and collaborations. Our efforts are focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and supporting Moldova's development goals. This hardworking team plays a crucial role in the Dutch commitment to Moldova's progress. The embassy's diligent work underscores the Dutch dedication to playing a positive role in Moldova's future. Our work is focused on six clusters to create impact in Moldova.

The Netherlands Embassy in Moldova places a high priority on promoting good governance and democratic processes. Through various programs, the embassy supports initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and public participation in governmental affairs. Collaborative efforts with local and international partners help strengthen the rule of law and democratic institutions, but we also strongly support public administration reform in Moldova. The embassy also focuses on capacity building for public officials to ensure effective governance. For example, the embassy supports the School of Local Mayors and Officials in enabling good governance practices in Moldova. These initiatives reflect the Dutch commitment to supporting democracy and good governance in Moldova.

Recognizing the complex security challenges in the region, the Dutch Embassy in Moldova actively works to combat hybrid threats and fostering Moldova’s resilience. This includes efforts to strengthen cyber security, counter disinformation, and support Moldova in safeguarding its national security. As of 2024, we are supporting the combination of the Information Technology & Cyber Security Service (STISC) and the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) partnering with the EUPM to support the enduring cyber resilience, but in specific of the Moldovan elections later this year.  Moreover, the visit of our Dutch Minister of Defense in April 2024, remembered Moldova of the enduring support of the Netherlands.  Moreover, the Embassy collaborates with Moldovan authorities and international organizations to build resilient systems that can withstand various forms of hybrid warfare. 

The Netherlands Embassy in Moldova is committed to fostering sustainable trade and investment. This commitment is demonstrated through initiatives that promote environmentally sustainable practices among businesses and facilitate green investments. Such as the first Netherlands – Moldova Business Forum which was organized in October 2023. The embassy works closely with both Dutch and Moldovan companies to explore opportunities that benefit the environment and economy. It also supports young entrepreneurship through the new Tulip Business Incubator. Moreover, the embassy tries to incorporate the entrepreneurship of all regions and demographics of Moldova by supporting the Transnistria Business Hub in Tiraspol. These efforts aim to create a more sustainable and prosperous economic landscape in Moldova. 

The promotion of LGBTI rights is a key focus for the Netherlands Embassy in Moldova. The embassy supports programs such as Queer Café in Chisinau and BangBang who advocate for the rights and inclusion of LGBTI individuals. By engaging with local NGOs, government bodies, and international agencies, the embassy helps foster a more inclusive society. Initiatives include awareness campaigns, and cultural events that promote diversity and tolerance. These actions are part of the broader efforts to ensure equality and human rights for all in Moldova.

The Netherlands Embassy in Moldova is a staunch advocate for press freedom and the protection of journalists. The embassy supports initiatives that aim to create a safer environment for journalists and promote independent media in all languages that are spoken in Moldova. The embassy helps to enhance journalistic standards and media integrity through projects such as the Tulip Press Awards, Nokta and Newsmaker.md, who both ensure unbiased reporting in the Russian language. Collaborative projects with media organizations aim to strengthen freedom of expression and access to information. The embassy's efforts underscore the importance of a free and fair press in a democratic society.

Justice reform is an essential part of the Dutch Embassy's agenda in Moldova. The embassy supports measures to improve the efficiency, transparency, and independence of the judicial system. Mainly, through our support of CILC and its coordinate with Moldovan authorities to ensure lasting change in the pre-vetting and the respective commissions, such as the second vetting-commission which is fully support by the Netherlands. Collaborations with local judicial bodies and international legal experts help promote best practices and reform efforts. Training programs for legal professionals and advocacy for legislative changes are also part of the embassy's strategy to enhance the rule of law. These initiatives are critical for ensuring justice and fairness in Moldova's legal system.
