The Netherlands in Nigeria - Education
In 2017 the Netherlands launched the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP). A five year programme that offered scholarships, trainings and projects to mid-career professionals and organisations in selected countries, of which Nigeria is one. The aim is to achieve sustainable and inclusive development through education and training opportunities for professionals and organisations in both public and private sectors.
Through its scholarship programme, knowledge and skills of professionals and organisations have been strengthened, driving positive change and sustainable development.

Seeking to contribute to youth employment in Nigeria, the Netherlands is currently designing a new programme on Horticulture to close the skills gap. The programme is built on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Higher Education (HE) activities for young people (15-35 y/o). It also focuses on knowledge exchange and capacity-strengthening of TVET and HE institutions for better alignment with market demands.
The new programme focuses on the broad priorities of NLinNigeria, including green jobs, horticulture, private sector development, migration and climate.
