Ms Lisette Neuerburg is responsible for labour disputes, private servants, protocol guide, asylum and migration.
Additionally, she serves as the coordinator of PROBAS.

Hans Akerboom   

Acting Director of Protocol and Host Country Affairs

Mr Hans Akerboom is the Acting Director of Protocol and Host Country Affairs Department (DPG). He has been a career diplomat at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2000. Previously he served as Netherlands Consul General in Erbil, Kurdistan Autonomous Region in Iraq (2020-2022), Charge d'Affaires a.i. in Kabul, Afghanistan (2018 - 2020) and Deputy Head of Mission in Singapore (2014-2018). Hans served as a Spokesperson of minister Foreign Aid and Trade, Lilianne Ploumen and Spokeperson of minister of Foreign Affairs, Uri Rosenthal as well. His earlier overseas assignments include Yemen, Ethiopia and Angola. Hans holds a Master in History from Leiden University in The Netherlands. 

Lisette Neuerburg

Ms Lisette Neuerburg carries out various policy-related tasks. She also coordinates HR matters within the PROBAS team and, in the absence of the Deputy Director, serves in that capacity.

Kathelijne Cammermans  

Senior Policy Officer

Ms Kathelijne Cammermans an account manager for a number of international organisations and is working on taxes and traffic. She started working at the Ministry of Forreign Affairs in 1997 and worked at the Treaties Division of the Legal Department for the last 15 years. She mainly worked for the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of The Netherlands. Also, she had the opportunity to build her experience in other departmens for example the Peace Building and Good Governance Division. Furthermore she worked at the Dutch Embassy in Zambia. She studied Political Science (International Relations) at the University of Amsterdam and Civil Law at Leiden University.

Thierry van der Horst 

Senior Policy Officer

Before joining DPG in the summer of 2023, Mr Thierry van der Horst worked as a policy officer at the Security Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Here he worked on Security and Defense Policy, including the Security Strategy for the Kingdom of the Netherlands and on leveraging the opportunities of (data) innovation in the field of international peace and security, especially in relation to Early Warning and Early Action for conflict prevention.  

Thierry studied International Relations in Groningen and Crisis and Security Management at Leiden University. After graduating he worked for the Centre for Innovation at Leiden University’s Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, working on the theme Data for Humanity. Before joining the Ministry in 2019, Thierry worked as a consultant at Capgemini, advising organisations on cyber security and crisis management issues.

Steven Smit    

Senior Policy Officer

Mr Steven Smit is a Policy Officer at DPG. He is responsible for PROBAS policy housing and buildings, banking matters (PEPs), sanctioned persons, COPRO and preserving privileges. He holds a bachelor in Public Administration and a master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy. 

Steven previously worked as a Policy Officer and stakeholder manager Corporate Social Responsibility at the directorate of International Trade Access and Trade policy where he was responsible for the development of policy that encouraged companies to prevent, address or stop risking the violation of human rights, such as forced labor and exploitation and environmental pollution.

Hetty de Weerd 

Senior Policy Officer

Ms Hetty de Weerd is  responsible for acquisition and fostering a favorable business climate for international organisations, managing host country policies including interdepartmental coordination and maintaining contacts with the municipality of The Hague, for example on matters concerning the International Zone. She also holds the position of Accountmanager for a number of international organisations. 

Before joining DPG, she has dedicated significant efforts to shaping passport policy for Dutch nationals abroad. With this robust background in law she now works at the Protocol and Host Nation Department. Hetty completed her legal studies and went on to serve many years as a Legal Advisor for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Emma Beelaerts van Blokland 

Coordinating Policy Officer 

Ms Emma Beelaerts van Blokland has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands for 8+ years in different roles. She started off working at the Sub-Sahara Africa Department, subsequently moving on to the Netherlands Permanent Delegation to NATO in Brussels after which the Human Rights and Multilateral Department followed. 

Maya Aumaj 

Policy Officer 

Ms Maya Aumaj coordinates communications, social media, the DPG website, the Protocol Guides, diversity and inclusion. She also oversees the accreditation of election observers, as well as the organisation of conferences and events. Prior to working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs she worked at the Ministry of General Affairs (The Government Information Service, Rijksvoorlichtingsdienst) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate. Maya studied Cultural Anthropology and Comparative Literature at the University of Amsterdam. She is an ambassador for the Prinses Beatrix Spierfonds and part of the citizens' initiative Hart voor Afghanistan, which aims to make a positive impact from one human being to another for the people in Afghanistan.

Margarita Avramtcheva 

Policy Officer 

Ms Margarita Avramtcheva is currently working at DPG as a Policy Officer, where she is committed to new international organisations in the Netherlands. She studied International Law at the universities of Leiden and Oslo and, prior to her time at DPG, worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a treaty lawyer and accountability policy officer for serious international crimes and (human rights) violations.

Robert Bijkerk 

Policy Officer 

Mr Robert joined DPG as a policy officer in the summer of 2024, after completing his tenure at our embassy in Seoul as Head of Administration and Consular Affairs. Robert is educated as a primary school teacher, and completed a Post-Bachelor degree in Finance and Management Control from Avans Hogeschool. Robert has an extensive and diverse working background within our Ministry. He is particularly familair with consular policy-, financial- and managerial matters. His postings at our embassies in Asia and Africa for over 20 years make Robert an understanding partner for matters that missions and international organisations in The Netherlands may face.
Furthermore, Robert is an account manager for a number of international organisations and embassies. 
 

Anna Ranzijn 

Policy Officer 

Ms Anna Ranzijn works as policy officer at the Host Nation Division of Protocol and Host Country Affairs Department. She is responsible for several embassies and consulates, as well as several international organisations. She studied International Law and Journalism. Anna previously worked for the Public Prosecution Service in Amsterdam, more specifically for the International Legal Assistance Centre.

 

Chantal Fontein

Management Assistant 

Ms Chantal Fontein is the management assistant to Ms Dominique Kuhling, Chief of Protocol and Mr Hans Akerboom, Deputy Director of Protocol and Host Country Affairs. She organises conferences & events, is an editor for the Host Nation website and LinkedIn page (Host Nation Updates). Prior to working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chantal worked in the marketing and communications field at various companies. She studied hotel management at Laurentius College in Haarlem and continued with a HBO management course. In her spare time, Chantal enjoys traveling. Her most memorable trips were to Thailand and Bali.

Dylan Haverkamp 

Product owner 

Mr Dylan Haverkamp is product owner for the PROBAS application. He also works on the development of the chatbot and the DPG website. He studied business economics at the HU University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht. Before joining DPG, Dylan worked as a consultant in the energy sector,  insurance- and automotive industry. Besides his works, Dylan enjoys to travel, exercise and to experiment with recipes in the kitchen.

Tessa Martens

Ms Tessa Martens facilitates and coordinates incoming visits by foreign dignitaries.

Myriam Blaauw      

Senior Project Officer

Ms Myriam Blaauw oversees the accreditation process for new ambassadors and coordinates farewell audiences and receptions for outgoing ambassadors. She also coordinates events involving the diplomatic corps.

Marco Braeken

Senior Project Officer

Mr Marco Braeken prepares state visits and assists the Director and Deputy Director. He also serves as the liaison between DPG and the Royal Household.

Alieke van Engeland - Bunt    

Senior Project Officer

Ms Alieke van Engeland-Bunt is involved in the logistical preparation and organisation of incoming visits by foreign dignitaries. Her remit also includes applications for royal honours for those living abroad.

Esther Madhoeban

Ms Esther Madhoeban is involved in the logistical preparation and organisation of incoming visits by foreign dignitaries. 

Anne - Sophie Sprenger      

Project Officer

Ms Anne-Sophie Sprenger is involved in the logistical preparation and organisation of incoming visits by foreign dignitaries. Applications for royal honours for those living abroad also fall within her remit.

Ruud de Ram     

Project Officer

 Mr Ruud de Ram provides logistical support for incoming visits. He is also responsible for managing flags and gifts, and assessing applications for Ministry of Foreign Affairs awards.

Marcella Zwagers      

Project Officer

Ms Marcella Zwagers is involved in the logistical preparation and organisation of incoming visits by foreign dignitaries. 

Ottilia Vroom

Senior Associate for Arms Licences and Transits 

Ms Ottilia Vroom is oversees requests for arms permits relating to dignitaries who are not accompanied by DPG. She also oversees transit requests for dignitaries in the Netherlands.
