27 Oct Free Your Wardrobe

Free Your Wardrobe is back! After successful editions in 2019, the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the EU invites you to our next clothing swap event on Thursday, October 27. Join the opening of our swap, whilst enjoying a light lunch or pass by after work for an aperitivo.

Sustainable and competitive textile industry

The textile industry has a significant impact on our climate and environment. Did you know it takes 2,700 litres of water to produce one t-shirt? This equals refilling your water bottle 6000 times!

We need a sustainable and competitive textile industry, in line with our efforts to ensure a circular economy by 2050. That is why the Netherlands advocates for a swift implementation of the EU Strategy for sustainable and circular textiles, which entails different initiatives to ensure sustainable product requirements, increase transparency and improve consumer information to prevent greenwashing.

Next to an ambitious follow-up of those initiatives, we believe that reduce, reuse and recycle starts with all of us*. Therefore, the clothing swap event is a participatory event: everyone is invited to donate clothes or accessories and pick up something ‘new’ and nice in return.
