Peter Potman has been working at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1988. He has held several offices at the Ministry in The Hague, as well as postings abroad in Shanghai (2011-2014), Washington (2004-2008), Geneva (1994-1997) and Beijing (1989-1992).

He is married to Ingrid d’Hooghe and has two children.
