Human Rights Fund - Serbia
Human rights are the cornerstone of human dignity, freedom and development, and form the basis for open and free societies all over the world. The Netherlands has a rich tradition of defending human rights, both at home and abroad.
The Human Rights Fund is the instrument through which the embassies support activities of local civil society organizations aimed at protecting and promoting human rights. The projects concerned contribute to the implementation of human rights obligations by which a country has already agreed to be bound, or to the dialogue about human rights in a country. In allocating funds, consideration is given to the seriousness of the human rights situation in relation to the Netherlands’ human rights priorities and the likely effectiveness of the intended activities.
The priority themes for Serbia and for Montenegro are: freedom of expression, equal rights for LGBTI and gender equality.
