About the film:
Women in Iran have been struggling for equal rights for more than 40 years. The Art of Living in Danger is a personal story of filmmaker Mina Keshavarz, but also a document of how Iranian women are continuing to fight for legal protection.
Keshavarz tells the story as a letter to her grandmother, Nurijan, whom she never met. Only later does it become clear why for decades the family has never spoken about her sad story.
The documentary also follows women’s rights activists as they collect stories like Nurijan’s. Their goal is to document the struggles of oppressed women and use these stories to demand justice and change.
