Orange Green Days 2023: Connecting Minds for Livable Cities

To continue our collaborative efforts in creating future-proof ecosystems, the Orange Green Days are back for 2023 with the theme ‘Connecting Minds for Livable Cities’. The focus for this year is extended from the 2022 edition of co-creating resilient cities by taking into account the dimension of people’s wellness. Therefore, it aims to not only secure a balance between urban development and environment, but also create safe and healthy lives.

Various activities will be organised from May to December to promote healthy and sustainable living. Livable cities should be designed to meet the demand of their residents with features such as green/vibrant public spaces, low-emission mobility, and diverse biodiversity, as well as accessibility to clean water and fresh food.

Our activities line up for this year are for example:

Global FoodTure Mission Thailand 2023

The first “Global Foodture Mission Thailand 2023” led by Foodvalley NL successfully underlines Thai – Dutch sustainable partnerships on agriculture and food system through collaboration and innovation. The Delegation of Global Foodture Mission Thailand 2023 comprised 16 SMEs from the European Union (EU) active in diversified innovative, healthy and alternative food products from plant-based, insect, microbial, aquaculture, livestock,  IOT & AI, beer, snack and food waste etc. The Global Foodture Mission Thailand 2023 is co-funded by the European Union’s COSME Program and powered by Foodvalley NL.

International Summer Course: City’s Future System for Resilient and Healthy City

The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangkok, together with the Healthy Space Alliance and partners are organising a Summer Course from City’s Future System for Resilient and Healthy City. The “Summer Course” is a significant gathering where renowned experts, urban planners, policymakers, and industry leaders convene to lecture the young generation on resilient and healthy city urban systems. It aims to showcase innovative approaches and strategies for creating resilient and healthy cities, addressing critical challenges such as Climate Change and Healthy Equity. The event will be organised from 4 – 10 July 2023 in Bangkok.

CIRCO Creating Business Through Circular Design Demo

A transition to the circular economy requires systemic change, starting from taking a different view of how we design, market and produce. Good design should be long-lasting, useful, innovative and environmentally friendly. CIRCO, a program supported by the Dutch government, activates entrepreneurs and creative professionals to (re) design products, services and business models in order to subsequently do circular business.

Similar to last year Orange Green Days, the Netherlands Embassy together with the Global Compact Network Thailand and CIRCO Hub Thailand will co-organise a half-day demo workshop on Creating Business Through Circular Design on 21 August. The DEMO demonstrates the CIRCO design process in a pressure cooker format, making circular business concrete and providing a circular dimension to your innovation process. Participants will get acquainted with a circular way of working, learn about circular cases, and meet other companies and stakeholders starting their circular journey as well.

TH-NL Water Innovation Forum

The Netherlands Embassy in Thailand and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) in cooperation with the Water and Environmental Institute for Sustainability (WEIS) of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), and the Netherlands Embassies in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam  jointly organize an Industrial water technology forum on “Smart Solutions for Industrial Water with Climate Resilience”.  Water professionals from Southeast Asian Region and the Netherlands will have an opportunity to share their experiences on industrial water challenges and explore potential alternative/innovative solutions. The focus areas; include (but not limit to); industrial water and wastewater treatment, water reuse and recycling, industrial flood/drought solutions and IOT in water management. This forum will take place during Thai Water Expo on 30 August at QSNCC.

Walk the Talk – presentation of Hotspot Analysis Bangkok

How to make good ideas materialize? As a follow up of our previous edition of Walk the Talk with urban designers to connect blue-green scatter spots in the city, this year, key drivers/stakeholders are invited to the second edition of our Walk the Talk series, toward the realistic and potential implementation. On 31 August, we will organize a working walk with top urban designers, joined by local authority, active citizen, city developers, financial experts and Dutch water and climate resilience experts through BMA’s potential blue- green corridors; Benjakitti park – Green Bridge –Green link -  Lumpini park. The working walk will conclude at the Netherlands Ambassador’s Residence with a presentation of the findings of the Hotspots Analysis of Bangkok Flood Resilience, followed by constructive discussion to crack the sustainable ways toward a livable and resilient city.
