Visit of Minister Veldkamp - Ukraine
Visit of Minister Veldkamp
During his visit on January 16, 2025, Minister Veldkamp reaffirmed the Netherlands' unwavering support for Ukraine. His packed schedule included meetings with President Zelensky, Minister Sybiha, and Deputy Prime Minister Stefanishyna, as well as meetings with veterans visits to a drone facility and the Kyiv School of Economics. During his meetings, he emphasized the importance of accountability and stressed that there can’t be room for impunity.
His key announcements are an additional €20 million for the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to help finance essential repairs and ensure the energy system continues to function. This builds on the €45 million contribution made last year. He also pledged an extra €7 million in non-lethal support through NATO's Ukraine Comprehensive Assistance Package (UCAP) to strengthen Ukraine's position both on and off the battlefield.
Next to supporting Ukraine in its most urgent needs, its important to look ahead, to our countries connected futures. That is why in Spring 2025, the Netherlands will be starting an annual bilateral conference to discuss subjects of common interest as Ukraine moves closer to the EU – such as good governance, the rule of law and agriculture.
