Indicative monthly gross salary (based on pay scale New York, scale 4, pay step 0):
$ 4,711.00 gross per month.

Moreover, a local employee will be given priority over a partner of an official posted to a Mission in the US.
**Candidates resident in the US need a valid working permit –US citizens, green card holders or A visa holders.
Duties and description
The facility officers/drivers of the Service Desk New York (currently 3 positions) are part of a drivers-pool, who divide and share tasks equally (both driving passengers and other tasks).
The driver transports people and goods, and reports to the deputy operational manager. The driver understands that they represent the mission, and behaves accordingly. The driver ensures that the vehicle(s) is/are well presented and in working order, carries out minor vehicle maintenance and advises on additional maintenance. The driver exercises due care in regard to personal or confidential information. The driver is accomplished behind the wheel, knows the traffic rules, keeps records of the journeys made, consults with their manager when necessary, and takes all necessary precautionary measures to ensure a smooth, safe journey. The driver is of impeccable behaviour towards passengers.
Driving duties:
- Arranges and coordinates the transportation of mission personnel, national and international delegations and valuable documents/materials.
- Advises on and closely follows protocols, implementation plans, safety/security procedures, scenarios and journey plans.
- Acts independently and correctly when carrying out assignments for the preparation and execution of rides.
- Maintain the cars (in particular the vehicle assigned to him/her) in clean and proper state. Advises Deputy Operational Manager on maintenance of vehicles;
- Comply with all driving instructions, relevant (transport) laws and procedures;
- Assist Deputy Operational Manager in establishing transport strategies, scenarios and procedures for different eventualities during VIP visits;
- Be responsible for taking care of special assignments such as VIP visits, trips with security risk;
- Ensuring a minimum availability of drivers in case of absence of the other drivers;
- Prepares meticulously before each trip;
- Communicates closely with manager or other assigned staff.
Performance of daily facility activities:
- Support in daily facility activities such as setting up meeting rooms, cleaning up and inventory catering items, etc.
- Carrying out internal removals;
- Daily check of stock levels of office supplies.
The handling of mailroom activities, courier services and office resource management
- Ensures a flawless handling of all postal activities reception and shipping. Where appropriate, he/she acts as a courier;
- Picking/dropping daily mail at the Post Office, UN mail office and other missions or locations when so required;
- Posting mail and postage machine.
Technical support for building management
- Supports building management;
- Guides maintenance and mechanics in their work in the office;
- Be available 24/7 for emergencies;
- Any other miscellaneous tasks within reason.

Working environment
The Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the United Nations (PRUN) is looking after the Dutch interests regarding foreign policy and in the area of development cooperation at the United Nations in New York. Approximately 38 employees are working at the PRUN. The Consulate General (CG) in New York is a medium size diplomatic mission with 6 expats and 18 local employees. The CG is active in the fields of economic and technological cooperation and trade, promotion of Dutch culture, Public Diplomacy and consular services. The office of NFIA (Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency) is also located within the Consulate.
New York is an important hub and receives many delegations from the Netherlands. The representative character of the Mission/Consulate-General is fully used. Public events are therefore frequently organized in the office. The PRUN together with the Consulate-General and the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency are located on two floors in a modern high-rise building.
You will work for the Service Desk New York which consists of 16 employees. The Service Desk is responsible for the operational management of the PRUN and the Consulate-General in the areas of maintenance, office managenment, technology, security, finances, housing, transport, catering, logistics, reception/visitor service, office resources and IT.
The Service Desk New York consists of the Operational Manager, two Deputy Operational Managers, one Senior General Affairs Officer, one Senior Consular Officer, one IT Officer, one General Affairs Officer, three Consular Officers, one Clerical Officer/Receptionist, 1 assistant IT, 1 assistant General Affairs Officer, 3 facility officers/drivers and one cleaner.
Job requirements
Knowledge and areas of experience:
- Practical knowledge of car mechanics and topography;
- Knowledge in map reading;

- Fluent in English language;
- In possession of valid driving license;
