The Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) is part of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. The NFIA is responsible for the international promotion of the Netherlands as a business location for foreign companies and for actively attracting and supporting those foreign companies that contribute to the sustainable earning capacity of the Netherlands. NFIA does this in collaboration with partners in the Invest in Holland network. With our strategic marketing and acquisition activities, we focus on strengthening existing Dutch ecosystems.

Job description
As Project Manager, you are responsible for identifying and guiding companies that can further strengthen the Dutch economy through establishment or follow-up investments. Based on strategic focus areas co-developed by our sector teams in the Netherlands, you pursue niche opportunities for potential investment projects in the Netherlands.
You operate within the NFIA Americas team and work together with the economic cluster at the Embassy. You approach companies that are active in the fields of Energy, LSH, IT & Tech, HTSM, Aerospace and regional oriented industries, like the Impact Economy & NGOs.
You work directly with the NFIA Americas colleagues based in the USA and Canada. Work is also done in joint effort with NFIA headquarters in The Hague, and the Invest in Holland network (regional and local governments in the Netherlands that focus on investment promotion), the Netherlands Innovation Network as well as local intermediaries/service providers.
In addition to project management, you join efforts in organizing and participating in a variety of activities such as seminars, trade fairs and investment-oriented inbound trade missions with ministers, local and regional governments.
Where will you work?
You will work at our NFIA Washington, D.C. office which is housed at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Washington, D.C. You are part of a diverse team of 4 NFIA colleagues. Together you inspire each other to bring the most wonderful companies to the Netherlands. The Embassy itself works to strengthen the economic ties between the Netherlands and the United States and supports with consular services, such as passport applications and consular declarations.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a commercial role and part of it in an international environment, preferably with American companies.
- completed a Master's degree - which specialization is less important to us.
- commercial attitude and experience with lead generation and appointment setting.
- excellent research skills, naturally curious and up-to-date on economic developments worldwide, specifically in the USA and the Netherlands
- demonstrable affinity with international business.
- knowledge of the Dutch economy and the Dutch business environment.
- an excellent command of the English language, both verbally and in writing, and preferably some knowledge of the Dutch language as well.
- proven affinity with making and holding presentations.
- organizationally sensitive, and you understand political and organizational relationships.
Responsibilities
- Support in identifying and contacting companies that may be looking to set up activities in the Netherlands based on a sector/market focus.
- Support in monitoring the progress of current investment projects and creating meeting preparation documents.
- Support in contacting companies from the US already established in the Netherlands as part of our Investor Relations program.
- Maintenance of the CRM and project administration.
- Tracking resources to build our pipeline of potential leads.
- Research and monitoring of developments within selected sectors and competitive clusters.
- Participate in events and represent NFIA interests.
- Assist in maintaining relationships with NFIA’s HQ in The Hague, with Dutch regional and local authorities responsible for investment promotion and local service providers and intermediaries in the US.
- Execution of the daily and financial administrative tasks of the office and organizational support of webinars/seminars, roadshows and incoming visits from the Netherlands.

Political sensitivity: you understand the complexities of the decision-making process within companies and collaborate within the Invest in Holland network in offering advice. As such you increase the chances of a successful investment decision.
What we offer
The embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Washington, D.C. has a full-time vacancy (40 hours per week) for a Project Manager NFIA. This position will be offered at pay scale 7 for a fixed term of two years, with a probationary period of two months.
Indicative gross monthly salary starting at $7,092 depending on relevant work experience.
401K Plan is offered. Health/Dental/Vision is provided on a 72%-28% Employer-Employee basis.
There are no financial provisions for a possible move from the Netherlands, but the Embassy and individual colleagues are willing to help and advise you in finding accommodation and on other administrative matters.
