2. Equal rights and love for all
The Netherlands supports equal rights and love for all, especially for the LGBITQ+ community. In 2019, the diplomatic network and Dutch community in Vietnam wholeheartedly joined the Viet Pride in Ho Chi Minh City and the Hanoi Pride to celebrate the pride spirit.
During the Hanoi International Queer Film Festival in 2019, the audiences could have a chance to share the emotion, pains and thoughts with the transgender people in the movie M/F/X from Koen Suidgeest. The documentary movie echoed with the theme of the festival: ‘Hay yeu nhau di’ (‘Let’s fall in love’) which is from a song that refers to a world made out of love, empathy and inclusion. In prior to the screening of the movie, the touching Preferred Pronouns exhibition took place presenting the photographs of the transgender characters in the M/F/X movie.
3. Exchanging culture
During the European Music Festival in 2019, the Dutch singer Nani Nani Noam Vazana rocked the stage at her concerts in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city. Her voice, music and performance emotionally blew the audiences away.
In 2020, all the seats were taken at every screening session of the Dutch movie ‘Mr. Twister on the pitch’, which was brought to 4 big cities in Vietnam under the framework of the European Film Festival 2020. Audiences, especially youngsters shared their excitement and enjoyment of the movie.
