Green businesses opportunities for Vietnam
At the Green Economy Exhibition and Forum (GEFE) 2024, held in Ho Chi Minh City, the Netherlands Pavilion emerges as the largest country pavilion, highlighting the interest of over 50 Dutch companies in exploring green business opportunities in Vietnam.
Organised by the EuroCham Vietnam, GEFE 2024 takes place from 21-23 October at Thiskyhall Sala Convention Center, providing a platform for businesses and knowledge institutions to exchange expertise, share innovative solutions, and explore opportunities for sustainable business growth. The strong presence of Dutch companies across sectors such as agriculture, water, energy, logistics and waste management underscores their high interest in doing green business with Vietnamese partners.
“The climate challenges and sustainable development require collaborative solutions that harness the strengths of both the public and private sectors, as well as academias and social organisations. Being a relatively small country with a large economy, the Netherlands has long been developing green technologies and sustainable innovations to reduce environmental impact. More than 50 Dutch companies are looking for Vietnamese partners to co-create solutions that are tailored to Vietnam’s specific needs. Whether in water management, agriculture, or energy, I am confident that this cooperation will contribute to both countries' green economies,” said the Netherlands Ambassador Kees van Baar.
At the Netherlands Pavilion, the Netherlands missions in Vietnam will organise a series of thematic workshops, covering topics such as digital technology solutions for green logistics and connectivity, water technologies, saline agriculture, nature-based solutions, and sustainable energy solutions, to name but a few. Dutch companies and financial organisations / funds will present two important topics on ‘Low Carbon Manufacturing’ and ‘Financing the Green Transition’ at the GEFE Conference. The Netherlands Pavilion will feature Dutch innovations and technology, at the same time, foster discussions between Dutch and Vietnamese stakeholders on developing solutions that are tailored to Vietnam’s specific needs.
“As we face global challenges like climate change, with Vietnam and the Netherlands being two delta countries most threatened by it, it's more important than ever to foster meaningful dialogues and collaborations. The Netherlands is proud to support initiatives like the GEFE that enhances cooperation between government, business, social and educational actors towards a cleaner, greener and sustainable future and raising awareness with and for future generations." said Consul General Daniël Stork.
"It is great to see the enthusiasm and entrepreneurship of so many Dutch businesses active in Vietnam in driving sustainable and green business development together with Vietnamese communities and businesses. We believe that by working together, we can amplify our impact, drive innovation, and create lasting value for our companies and the communities we serve. With our strong network we not only support business growth but also champion the principles of sustainability and corporate social responsibility.'', said Mr. Wietse Mutters, Chairman of the Dutch Business Association Vietnam.
