The Netherlands and UNESCO

The Kingdom of the Netherlands joined UNESCO in January 1947. In the same year, the National UNESCO Commission was established, an assembly of experts specialised in one or multiple working fields of UNESCO.

The Permanent Delegation represents the interests of the Kingdom and government policies with regard to UNESCO issues, while it also reports on relevant developments within UNESCO to both the four governments in the Kingdom (The Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten) and other interested parties.
